All scores MUST be submitted through IEA's online points recording form to be considered for Year End Awards.
The Competition Season runs from December 1 (previous year) through November 30 of the current year
(for example: December 1, 2022 through November 30, 2023)
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
The Lifetime Achievement Award is a perpetual award sponsored by the Indiana Eventing Association. This award gives thanks to those who have given selflessly to the advancement of the sport of eventing in Indiana. Their dedication in all tasks large and small, in front of the public, and behind the scenes are what all members should strive to emulate. IEA would not be the great organization it is without the dedication of these special people.
Nominations: Any member of IEA may nominate a recipient (individual or family).
Selection: Selection is voted on by the IEA Board of Directors.

TUMBLE DRY AWARD
The Tumble Dry (“Obie”) Award is a perpetual award sponsored by Jenna Schildmier. Obie was an OTTB selected from the track by Lee Ann Zobbe in 1991. He was developed and competed successfully through the Preliminary Level by Lani Gilliam before coming to Jenna in 2001. Jenna competed Obie from Preliminary through the 4* long format level. Together they completed multiple long format championships, placing 5th in the Harry T. Peters 1* championship, the NARYC**, Radnor, Fair Hill and the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event (2006). The Obie Award is a testament to a game little horse that had a full career, recovered from a near fatal case of West Nile Virus, and returned to compete at the highest level.
Eligibility: Rider must be a member of the Indiana Eventing Association.
Selection: This award is presented to the horse competing at the highest level (recognized) for the year. If there are multiple qualifying horse/rider pairs. The pair with the highest placings, most finishes, and lowest number of cross country penalties will be selected. Additional tie-breakers will be determined by Jenna as needed.

APOLLO STAR AWARD
The Apollo Star Award is a perpetual award sponsored by Liz Messaglia, in honor of Apollo Star, whom she developed from Beginner Novice through the Preliminary level. Apollo accrued wins & multiple top placings at each level for USEA recognized events. In 2011, Liz and Apollo won the Novice division of the American Eventing Championships out of 56 competitors. Apollo also competed successfully in several other disciplines, USEF AA rated jumper shows up to 1.30 meter, placed at USDF Regionals at 2nd level, and placed in a Hunter Derby.
Nominations: Rider must be a member of the Indiana Eventing Association and must have completed the volunteer hours required and submitted results pursuant to the IEA awards submissions guidelines.
Selection: This award is presented to the highest placing novice horse (in the top 15) at the AEC’s (in any novice division) and if no horse has placed in the top 15, the award will go to the highest placing Novice horse based on results submitted for IEA Year End Awards.

DARKANYAN AWARD
Sponsored by Kathleen Neuhoff, the Darkanyan Award goes to the highest placed Preliminary Amateur Owner.
Eligibility: Rider must be a member of the Indiana Eventing Association and must have completed the volunteer hours required and submitted results pursuant to the IEA awards submissions guidelines.
Selection: This award is presented to the highest placing preliminary horse owned and competed by an amateur, based on results submitted for IEA Year End Awards.

WINGS AWARD
The Wings Award is a perpetual award sponsored by Trudy Pulley in memory of Mega Tsunami (The Devine Miss Meggie). This award celebrates the partnership between horse and rider and honors those horses who have truly given us wings. Meggie was bred as a steeplechaser, but was not started until she was 5. She was purchased as a green 6yo by Trudy in 2010. She was very much a princess with the heart of a warrior. She was kind, honest, and always took care of her rider. She took Krista to Pony Club rallies for two summers and then Trudy and Meggie produced each other from Beginner Novice through Intermediate/Preliminary and were working towards the move up to Intermediate. The partnership between Meggie and Trudy was truly special – she was a heart horse and the two gave each other wings. Meggie was lost in 2018 due to complications following a torsion colic. Her memory lives on in this celebration of the special partnership between horse and rider.
Eligibility: Any horse (alive or deceased) is eligible. The rider must be a member of the Indiana Eventing Association. There are no competition requirements for the horse/rider pair. This award celebrates the partnership not the placings.
Nominations:All members of the Indiana Eventing Association are eligible to nominate a horse/rider pair. Please include a short description with your nomination as to why you feel the pair demonstrates the essence of the award. Nominations should be submitted to Trudy Pulley trudy@solterra.farm by December 1 of the current year.
Selection: All nominations will be reviewed by the IEA Board of Directors. Final selection of the recipient pair will be made by Trudy Pulley.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR
The Volunteer of the Year is presented to the person(s) who routinely volunteers for IEA sponsored events and can always be counted on to assist wherever called upon.
Eligibility: The volunteer does not necessarily have to be a member of the Indiana Eventing Association. Members, family, friends are all eligible.
Nominations:Any coordinator of an activity for the Indiana Eventing Association may nominate a person for this award. Nominations are due December 1 of the award year.
Selection: Nominees are voted on by the IEA Board of Directors.

The Senior IEA HT Volunteer is presented to the senior IEA member who goes over and above in their volunteer duties for the IEA Horse Trial.
Eligibility: Senior members of IEA who volunteer in any capacity at the IEA Horse Trials.
Selection:Recipient is selected based on highest overall hours volunteered in association with the IEA Horse Trials.
