IEA Horse Trials &
Classic Series 3-Day Event

What is the IEA Horse Trials?

The IEA Horse Trials are an annual event taking place in early June at the Hoosier Horse Park in Edinburgh, IN.  Eventing is best described as an equestrian triathlon. The sport originated as a cavalry test and is comprised of three phases:  dressage, cross country and show jumping. IEA is part of USEA Area VIII and offers traditional eventing competition levels from Starter through Intermediate/Preliminary (including the newly added Modified division).  IEA also offers USEA Classic Series Three-Day divisions at Beginner Novice, Novice and Training levels.

IEA first ran this event as a Combined Test in 1988 and began offering a full horse trial in 1989 with Novice and Training level competition.  Preliminary level events were added in 1992, Starter in 2003 and Modified in 2020.  The Classic 3-Day series was added in 2009 with a Training Level 3DE.  A Novice 3DE was added in 2010 and a Beginner Novice 3DE in 2023.

Future Dates:  May 30 – Jun 2, 2024
