We are working diligently to run the Indiana Eventing Association Horse Trial in August, 2020. However, it is with great sadness, and after much deliberation, the IEA board of directors has voted to cancel the three day (Novice three day and Training three day) portion of the event. All other divisions (Starter, Beginner Novice, Novice, Training, Modified, Preliminary and I/P) will run as planned for the 2020 IEA HT.

We believe this decision is in the best interest of the horses, competitors, volunteers and officials given the circumstances of this year. We plan to go back to our traditional three day and horse trial format in 2021.

We appreciate the efforts of our organizer, secretary, course designer, volunteers, officials and everyone else involved in making this year's event a reality. It takes a lot of man hours to put on an event and we rely on our volunteers to help us create the magic that is IEA horse trial.

Please consider volunteering for the IEA horse trial Aug 7th-9th, and also for IEA Leg Up Schooling Horse trial held July 5th. It takes a village to make these happen and to make them happen safely. We will practice social distancing and follow USEF, state and local government guidelines. Please watch this page for more information about how you can volunteer for IEA Horse Trials and Leg Up.

This was a very difficult decision, and we apologize to those that were riding towards the aspiring goal of completing the official three day at IEA in 2020. While disappointed, we are looking forward to a safe and successful horse trial in August.

Please stay safe and kick on... Go IEA! Go Eventing!

To IEA competitors, volunteers and members,

US Equestrian (USEF) has announced today that they will be extending the suspension of all USEF events through May 31, 2020. The United States Eventing Association (USEA) Board of Governors voted to follow suit and all USEA recognized events and educational activities are suspended through May 31, 2020.

We support this decision but are saddened we will not be able to hold our event as planned. We knew that the postponement of our event was a possibility given the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is critical that we work closely with USEF and USEA in order to potentially hold our event later in the year. We will continue to follow the directions of USEF and USEA as well as Federal, State and local guidance. Our top priority remains the healthy and safety of our competitors, volunteers, officials and members.

We have requested the dates of August 6-9, 2020, for the rescheduling of the 2020 IEA 3Day Event and Horse Trials. These dates have been approved by the USEA Area 8 Council and this request is pending final approval of the USEF. We will update everyone as this process progresses.

Competitors will receive an e-mail detailing the process for a refund.
We appreciate the countless hours that our organizer, secretary and volunteers have spent planning the Horse Trials. The optimism of those that entered shows the tremendous support for our event. We share that optimism and hope that we will see you all in early August. Stay tuned!

    Stay safe and remain hopeful,

    Liz Holtz Messaglia
    President, Indiana Eventing Association
